OCD and Neurodivergence in Justice and Crisis Settings: Identification, Support, and Cross-Sector Collaboration

  • Embassy Suites by Hilton Plainfield Indianapolis Airport 6089 Clarks Creek Road Plainfield, IN, 46168 United States (map)

Each Year NAMI-Indiana brings together leaders from the mental health and criminal justice fields, in order to collaborate and partner for change. Amber is please to speak on OCD and Neurodivergence in Justice and Crisis Settings.

Trauma-informed diversion and CIT improve outcomes for justice-involved individuals, yet behaviors linked to OCD and neurodivergence (autistic stimming, attending to compulsions, or tics) are often misread as defiance or aggression. Attendees will learn to identify these behaviors, explore support options, and consider cross-sector approaches to improve outcomes and reduce unnecessary criminalization.
